The Namesake from Jhumpa Laharis novel painted a perfect house painting of people like me who have immigrated in the United defer to find a better life and the challenges we unexpectedly incur in the process. The difficulties faced by the immigrants are feeling alienated, cultural difference, and the second generations desperate desire to mention themselves.
Being a stranger in a hostile land is noniceable throughout the novel. During Ashimas pregnancy she became frightened for her baby. Because the notion of raising a child in a country where she is related to no one, where she knows so little, and where life seems so tentative and spare. Her son Gogol will feel at accompaniment in the United States in a way that she would neer be. The reason for that is because Gogol will go to school and integrate to the American culture. When Gogol is born, Ashima complained about the fact that he is not surrounded by her close family. It means that his birth, like most everything else in America, feels someway haphazard, only half true. When she arrives home from the hospital, Ashima says to Ashoke in a molybdenum of anxiety, I dont want to raise Gogol alone in this country. Its not right. I want to go back.




Gogol and his parents showed continued respect and appraise for their Bengali culture while living in America. They would cook, and deliver their native language at home. When Gogols parents had to go to their recall doses party, Gogol had to come home from college to accompany them. Ashoke and Ashima are a product of arranged marriage, which is a common thing in the Bengali culture. The process of arranged marriage is a sovereign feature of the Indian culture.
